BUSINESS is flying high at a South Hams hotel thanks to the grounding of planes across the UK.

In the wake of the volcanic ash fiasco, Brits have opted for stay-cations and idyllic Buckland Tout-Saints Hotel is full to the rafters of holidaymakers eager to make the most of the balmy weather.

Bookings at the Kingsbridge hotel have more than quadrupled as dozens of tourists have winged their way to the Devon coast to avoid wasting their hard-earned leave.

And the unexpected sunshine and longer days mean that the restaurant and terraces are heaving with revellers keen to enjoy the first signs of summer.

Gemma Balaam, General Manager of Buckland Tout-Saints, said: “We are delighted to be able to accommodate so many people who have been let down by this unfortunate situation and hopefully we have cheered them up.

“Buckland Tout-Saints is such a stunning destination and we have been so lucky with the weather this week that it goes to show you don’t have get on a plane to have a wonderful holiday!”
