The Hotel
'Buckland-Tout-Saints is a magnificent Grade II manor house dating back
to 1690,
and after careful restoration by its present owners, Mark and Julia Trumble,
has won the highest accolade from the AA, featuring in the new category
for the top
200 hotels in Britain.'
The Food
'Having sampled almost two thirds of the menu I can say with the utmost
confidence that
you will not make a wrong choice at Buckland Tout Saints. All the dishes
were
cooked to perfection and the service from the French waiter Morgan was effortlessly
attentive;
one of those places where you've been realized you wanted it, Claire (my
companion) started
with the scallops and langoustines and I had the tatare of tuna. Both were
superb.'
The Wine
'With more than 150 bins, the wine list is not limiting. We settled for
a South African Zinfandel-Cinsault.
Tim the Managing Director, aims to make the wine list as clear and approachable
as possible. There is a definite erring towards the Italian and French country
wines, whilst not avoiding those traditional favourites.
There is also a conscious effort to make the more unusual wines more affordable
to give you
some incentive to branch out and test those tastebuds.'
